Some of you may remember the charming ace accordion player Sam Reider who was here in 2018 with his band The Human Hands. One of the things we always say to musicians after their concert is “let us know if you have any other interesting projects that could work on the Lane Series.” Well, it turns out, Sam did have another project in the hopper, and boy, were we interested when we heard it was with the virtuosic Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-winning Venezuelan cuatro player Jorge Glem. Brooklyn Cumaná is the result of a mash-up of culture, creativity, and connection: an ode to traditions near and dear to each of these consummate musicians; a blend of the driving dance rhythms of Venezuela, and the American sounds of bluegrass and jazz. It is something original, new, yet stunningly familiar and fun. If you love intricate acoustic music played by musicians with monster chops, don’t miss this one!
