We love a family ensemble, and the Jupiter String Quartet is a particularly close-knit group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (Meg’s older sister), and cellist Daniel McDonough (Meg’s husband). Founded in 2001, the Jupiter plays all the major halls and festivals and were grand prize winners of the both the Banff and Fischoff competitions, the Young Concert Artists’ International and Cleveland Quartet Award, and an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2008. For all their awards, accolades, and high-profile gigs, they retain a reputation as friendly and adventurous performers and programmers. We are delighted to welcome this great American quartet to our hall for the first time.
