Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the knowall domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Using the Previous Versions tab to recover files

Requires a UVM-owned Windows computer

You must use a CAMPUS domain-joined Windows system to restore previous versions. This functionality is not available for macOS machines or personal Windows machines.

The file servers for Shared (S:) folders and Netfiles shares take several snapshots of their contents each day. You can access these snapshots and revert to them through the Previous Versions tab in the Properties window for a file or folder. These snapshots are kept for a couple of weeks, so if you notice missing or corrupted files in that time frame, you can sometimes recover them with this feature.

  1. Right-click the damaged file or the folder that contained a deleted file. From the menu that appears, select Properties.
  2. From the window that appears, select the Previous Versions tab.
  3. Select the version of the folder that would have contained the deleted file. For example, if the file was deleted this morning, select the snapshot from last night (very early this morning).
  4. Click the Open button to open a version of the folder as it existed at that time. Avoid the Restore button, which will overwrite your current folder with the folder as it existed at the selected time.
  5. Find the deleted file in the read-only window (identified by the time stamp in the window title) and copy it to the desired location.
The selected file should now be restored.
