Job Overview

Provide routine medical laboratory services in support of University health care services.

Typical Functions

Provide routine medical laboratory services in support of University health care services; perform standard laboratory tests and review results for accuracy following established protocols. Examples may include CBC, urinalysis, ESR, monospots, pregnancy tests and urine screens; obtain blood specimens for internal and reference laboratory testing.

Coordinate Quality Improvement projects and maintain proper quality controls to ensure reliability of results and compliance with regulatory requirements; review and make recommendations to maximize or enhance current laboratory methods and  procedures; may provide instruction regarding routine lab procedures; participate in area safety training. 

Perform administrative functions; schedule appointments, greet patients and assist in invoicing; assist in or perform medical records research or audits.

Maintain laboratory testing and patient records, inventory, supplies and equipment.  Perform routine maintenance of equipment.

May provide functional supervision to designated employees and/or affiliates.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to: 

Bachelor's degree in specialized field and one to three years experience required. Specialized certification may be required.
