- B.S. Biology, Bucknell University 2021
Medicine
Areas of expertise
Virology, Host Pathogen Interactions
BIO
Emily is a PhD candidate working in Jason Botten’s lab studying host-pathogen interactions among pathogenic RNA viruses, their incidental human hosts and natural animal reservoirs. Emily’s research focuses on a small viral protein that drives the production of new viral particles. This research aims to identify novel mechanisms to target for the development of therapeutics against these viruses.
Emily graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in Biology in 2021. While in college, Emily’s work focused on immune priming to co-infections in Drosophila melanogaster. Before starting in the CMB program in 2023, Emily worked at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology at Rutgers University studying the neurodevelopment of sleep pathways in Drosophila melanogaster.
Courses
BCOR1400
Awards and Achievements
NIH Ruth L Kirschstein National Research Service Award (F31) Predoctoral Fellowship
