Harnessing the “Testing Effect” for Learning (in-person or webinar)

Monday, October 21, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Free

This is one of a series of short events called Sound (Teaching) Bites. Research shows that testing is actually an effective (and underutilized) method for learning, when most frequently, faculty implement tests solely for assessment. In this Sound (Teaching) Bite, we will explain the nuances of the “testing effect” and help you think about how to leverage its benefits to maximize student learning in your courses.

Presenter: Jen Garrett-Ostermiller

About this semester’s Sound (Teaching) Bite Event Series

See full list of these events.

This Teaching Sound Bites series will offer quick opportunities to learn some new, concrete strategies to incorporate active learning or promote student engagement in your teaching. Each Sound (Teaching) Bite will start at noon and open with a 15-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute follow-up conversation; participants can attend in-person or via webinar. The series draws on presenters from a variety of departments and offices at UVM.

After you register, you’ll be contacted about your attendance choice: in-person or webinar. We will send you a link to join the webinar, if applicable.

Videos of this series can be found at uvm.edu/ctl/videos/
