Book Group : Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching
October 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin us for a book group to read The Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching together. This guide is a hands-on exploration of the empirical research around creating equitable educational outcomes and examples of small and large teaching practices that can occur in classes of all shapes and sizes. If you’re curious about inclusive or equity-minded teaching and wondering where to start, this book is for you! Co-authored by a team with varied disciplinary and teaching experience, it has something for everyone. Our first of three meetings will be on October 9 at noon.
We’ll meet on Wednesdays at noon:
- Session 1 – October 9
- Session 2 – October 30
- Session 3 – November 20
This will by a hybrid program, so you are welcome to either visit us in Howe 303 or via Microsoft Teams. Feel free to bring your lunch, and we’ll have coffee, tea, and snacks available. A copy of the book will be provided to participants; Norton makes a free e-book available, so if you prefer to read electronically, you can arrange that yourself.
Interested in learning more about the book before we start? Check out this podcast episode from The Inclusive Educators, which features two of the book’s four authors, Isis Artze-Vega and Flower Darby. Artze-Vega, Darby, and co-author Mays Imad speak in Perusall’s podcast highlighting social learning; you can listen to it or read the transcript.
Once you are registered using the green registration button below, please block 12pm-1pm on your calendar for October 9th, October 30th, and November 20th. You will receive an Outlook invite for all 3 sessions on the afternoon prior to the first meeting.
