Office/Program Support Generalist

Matthew is the Office Program/Support Generalist at the UVM Department of Nursing and provides administrative support to the Nursing Department, Chair, Vice–Chair, Program Director, nursing students and faculty. He also performs logistical and financial tasks that support the department's operations. This includes reviewing, updating, preparing, reporting, tracking and disseminating data according to schedules and needs of the Department.

Professionally, Matthew’s experience ranges from universities to nonprofit organizations as a grant writer, library technical assistant, client relations representative at a legal education nonprofit, and various other roles and responsibilities at organizations or as a freelancer. Matthew’s work as a grant writer has drawn him to work with educational institutions and nonprofits, and he has written grant proposals to many foundations, corporations, and government agencies. He has managed the entire grant application process, including prospect research, development strategy, grant management, budgeting, evaluation, reporting, and more. Through this work, he has also gained skills and experience with CRM databases such as Salesforce, grant calendar management, statistical reporting, and meeting agendas within his role in a team.

Outside of work, Matthew also sings, plays guitar, plays some piano, writes his own music and lyrics, and enjoys performing live. In the past, he has been the lead role in multiple musical theatre productions, been the president and music director of his college a cappella group when they recorded a professional album, sang tenor in choir groups that have performed in Carnegie Hall and toured Europe, and played trumpet and sang vocals in a jazz band. He has also performed in multiple rock bands in New York City, taken voice lessons for years, studied opera, started and instructed an a cappella group for middle school students, and even written music and lyrics for a one-act musical. Matthew has also recorded vocals and harmonies on a friend’s solo record debut and records and produces his own music in his free time.
