BIO

My research investigates the role of Miro1, a mitochondrial adaptor protein necessary for mitochondrial trafficking, on cell migration, proliferation, and redox signaling processes. We utilize microscopy to study real-time oxidation levels and mitochondrial localization within the cell, and a variety of biochemical techniques to investigate protein abundance and oxidation state.   I finished my bachelor's degree at UVM in 2021, having studied Biology and Music Performance, as well as completing an undergraduate thesis focused on retinal development in Alicia Ebert's lab. Prior to joining the CMB program, I worked as a clinical research coordinator at the Vermont Lung Center studying asthma and long COVID. Outside of CMB I enjoy skiing, mountain biking, and playing music with local ensembles.

Area(s) of expertise

Impacts of Miro1 mediated mitochondrial positioning on redox processes
