BIO

Neil Swidey is Professor of the Practice and Director of the Journalism Program at Brandeis University, leading efforts to reimagine media education on campus. He is also Editor-at-Large of The Boston Globe Magazine.

Swidey’s work has appeared in the Best American Science Writing, the Best American Crime Writing, and the Best American Political Writing. His book Trapped Under the Sea was named one of the best books of the year by Amazon and Booklist. His first book, The Assist, was named one of the year’s best by The Washington Post. He is also a coauthor of the New York Times bestseller Last Lion: The Fall and Rise of Ted Kennedy. 

With the help of friends, he founded the Alray Scholars Program . He lives outside Boston with his wife, three daughters, and their ferocious and fickle 13-pound dog.
