Autism Assessment and Evaluator Training (AAET) is a newly developed, integrated service of the Vermont Psychological Services clinic. AAET provides ongoing training to graduate students in autism assessment while offering comprehensive autism evaluations to individuals in the community from toddlers through adults. Assessments conducted through AAET are based on best practice measures including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 and the Autism Diagnostic Interview Schedule, Revised, and are supervised by a licensed school and clinical psychologist. Assessments are conducted at the VPS clinic and for school-age children include outreach to schools. Individuals seek AAET evaluations for many reasons including to inform eligibility for Special Education services or an Adult Developmental Services Waiver in Vermont and to provide recommendations for educational and community-based supports. Faculty supervisor Dr. Miriam Stohl facilitates this VPS specialty service.
