About the Provisional Designation Request Process
This process is for use by Patrick Leahy Honors College and College of Arts & Sciences faculty to request provisional Catamount Core designation(s) for SECTIONS of Topics In:, Topics In: FYS, Topics In: LASP, and PLHC Seminars. This application process enables faculty to request provisional Catamount Core approval for a SECTION of a variable content course for a single semester, in order to meet deadlines for inclusion in the Schedule of Courses.

Provisional Approval Criteria and Student Learning Outcome Forms
Download, complete, and submit one form for EACH Catamount Core designation that you are requesting for your SECTION.

Here are two examples of what completed provisional approval request forms look like:
How to Submit Your Request
Faculty must submit materials via email directly to CAS (CASCurriculum@uvm.edu) or to PHLC (Ian.Grimmer@uvm.edu) by the following deadlines:
- Second Monday in September (the Monday following the Labor Day holiday) for sections to be offered in the Spring semester of the same academic year
- February 1 (or next business day if February 1 falls on a weekend or holiday) for sections to be offered the following Fall
Be sure to attach your completed Provisional Designation Request and Course Outline Form, and a completed Course Attributes and Student Learning Outcomes Form for each designation you are requesting.
