Putting the Spotlight on Diversity Burnout, Oppression, Fatigue and Maple Syrup

The emotional weight of doing diversity, equity and inclusion work can cause burnout. Diversity educators and their allies often suffer from compassion, passion, and oppression fatigue. This can have an impact in both the classroom and workplace. This panel session will be an honest interactive conversation and exploration of:

  • minimizing and assessing burnout
  • building resources and resiliency
  • compassion, passion and oppression fatigue
  • exploring if there is a difference in doing the work in a predominantly white setting verses a more diverse setting

Panelists: Dr. Karen A. Johnson, LaShanda Reed-Larry, Dr. Moise St Louis, Paul Yoon

Host: Dani Comey
