VT EPSCoR Stream Project - Coordinator

Liza works with the Streams Project participants to coordinate and develop all aspects
of the project. She recruits new students and faculty, networks with local watershed
groups and small businesses, manages data, and plans Streams Project events. Liza joined
the Streams Project in August 2009 with experience in teaching and outreach at
universities and public institutions, including the University of California -
Berkeley, the East Bay Municipal Utility District in Oakland, CA, and the University
of Michigan Biological Station. Her general interests are in freshwater ecosystems and
environmental education for all age groups. She has a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary
Ecology and Toxicology from the University of Florida School of Natural Resources and
Environment. She is excited to grow the Streams Project and welcomes collaboration.

VT EPSCoR Stream Project - GIS/ Database Specialist

Lexie is the Vermont EPSCoR Streams Project's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and
database specialist. She advises undergraduate students conducting GIS-based watershed
research and works with the Streams Project high schools to integrate landscape-level
data such as land use into their research. She came to the VT EPSCoR Streams Project in
April 2009 with a Master of Science from the UVM Rubenstein School of Environment and
Natural Resources. Her work with the Streams Project draws upon her experience using
GIS as a tool to conduct watershed analysis and model land use change. Lexie is excited
about growing the Streams Project's GIS database and working with Project participants to
explore the relationship between water quality and the broader landscape. Please contact

VT EPSCoR Streams - Project Research Assistant
|
Meredith operates the Streams Project laboratory at UVM where water samples are analyzed,
trains and supervises undergraduate interns in laboratory and field methods, collaborates
with high school teachers to develop a sampling schedule, provides general support for high
school teams in field methods and sampling protocols, and maintains field equipment.
She began her involvement with the Streams Project during the 2008-2009 season as an
undergraduate intern. She received a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science with
a concentration in Water Resources in May 2009. She enjoyed her participation in the
program so much that she has returned to the Streams Project as the Research Assistant.

Lydia works on the Streams Project high school outreach activities and coordinates the
logistics of training sessions and the Streams Symposium. Lydia comes to Vermont EPSCoR
with a Master of Arts in Archaeology from the University of Nottingham, England. She has
worked on analysis of plant and animal remains and enjoys environmental and historical
