Read the university's official refund and bill adjustment policy (PDF).
Dropping or withdrawing from a course or courses is a formal procedure that requires action on behalf of the student. A student who wishes to drop a course should do so through the Student Information System. To withdraw from a course, a student must obtain a withdrawal form from the Registrar's Office, receive the appropriate signatures and turn it in to the Student Service Center. The dates used for determining whether the action is a drop or a withdrawal is based on the date action is taken by the student.
Note! Students who simply stop attending classes without completing one of the formal procedures listed above will not be dropped or withdrawn from the course and will likely receive a failing grade on their transcript.
Who does this refund schedule apply to? The following refund schedule is the same whether the student is withdrawing for medical or non-medical reasons.
Tuition Insurance: If students/families wish to insure their tuition investment in the case that they should need to leave school for medical reasons, they should enroll in the insurance plan on the Dewar website prior to the first day of classes for that particular semester.
What will be refunded to me? Students living on campus who completely withdraw from the university will receive a refund of their room and board charges according to the schedule below, as well as their tuition and fees.
Financial Aid recipients should contact Student Financial Services to determine the impact on their financial aid package, ideally prior to making enrollment changes.
