January Orientation

January Orientation is for both new first-year students and transfer students. The program provides you with an opportunity to learn the requirements of your academic unit, meet with a faculty advisor to plan/review your courses, register or adjust your course schedule and become familiar with campus life. These activities are designed to prepare you to begin classes on Monday, January 12th, 2015.

If you have paid your acceptance fee to the Admissions Office and you are a new first-year student, a transfer student from another institution, or a transfer student from UVM's Continuing Education, you will find the Orientation program an important step in starting your academic career at the University of Vermont.

Family members are more than welcome to attend January Orientation, but please note - any attending family members are required to pay a $5 program fee to cover lunch and program materials. You will be able to pay this fee at check-in that morning (cash only).

To Register for our Friday, January 9th 2015 Orientation Session,
please complete this form.

Registering for Spring Courses

The online course registration process allows you to register for spring classes prior to attending January Orientation. Although you are not required to do so, this option allows you to create your course schedule at your earliest convenience. At Orientation, an advisor will be available, if needed, to help you review and finalize your schedule. You will soon receive materials from your Dean's office with complete instructions on this process, including course selection information.

Traveling to UVM

If you're unfamilliar with the Burlington area, or need ideas as to how you can get to campus for Orientation - please take a moment to look through our list of travel resources.

Parking

Parking for January Orientation attendees will be available in the Jeffords Parking Lot adjacent to the Davis Center and Jeffords Hall. You will need to download, print off, and display a Jeffords Parking Permit on the dashboard of your car if you plan on parking in this lot during the Orientation program.

Living on campus

If you plan to or are required to live on campus, you must complete a request for housing through the Department of Residential Life.

Orientation participants who have been assigned a room will be permitted to move in on Friday, January 9th from 8am - 4pm. Students must check-in at the main desk of the complex they have been assigned to. Students living on campus should make sure they have gotten their CatCard (student I.D. card) before moving in, as they will need this to enter their residence hall.

Got housing questions? The Department of Residential Life is your go-to for all things regarding on-campus housing. They can be reached by e-mail at reslife@uvm.edu or by phone at (802) 656-3434.
