Answers to selected problems can be found in the back of the text. Solutions to the assigned problems will be posted on Black Board after they are collected.

Note: Cut and paste *relevant* output from SAS into a word processor or text editor. Do not hand in a printout of the entire SAS output. Use complete sentences (but very brief) where appropriate, as if you were writing a results/methods section for a research project or paper.

  Read the short excerpt about expected values for random variables. Complete the power and expected value worksheet.

• (2) Due 1/22 (Submit this HW at tinyurl.com/stat5310-work. Name the file "5310-hw2.pdf" - No spaces/CAPs. Do NOT add your name.)
  Read the short excerpt about probability distributions for random variables.
  * Do problem 4.1-4 on p.3 of the file. (All students)
  * Derive the power and sample size relationship described in this worksheet. (proficiency-based grading for STAT/DS Graduate Students)

              Replicate the results in Table 6.11 for example 6.4 on p. 196 using SAS (submit the output and SAS code). The data file can be found at the "Data sets from the text" link above under "exp6_4.txt" [note the "p" in the file name, since this is an example not an exercise].
