MPA Program and People
The Master of Public Administration at the University of Vermont is a professional interdisciplinary degree that prepares pre- and in-service public leaders by combining the theoretical and practical foundations of public administration with the democratic traditions that are a hallmark of Vermont communities.

MPA Program Requirements
The MPA program requires 36 academic credits, which is typically 12 courses. Almost all courses are offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals. Five core courses are required for all MPA students, and the remaining courses may be tailored to your specific interests.

Admissions Information
The MPA program accepts part-time and full-time students. Admissions decisions take into account your previous academic and professional experience. For those students seeking competitive funding, applications should be complete by mid-February.

Graduate Assistantships
Master of Public Administration students at UVM have the opportunity to apply or be nominated for assistantships and fellowships with research centers that partner with CDAE and the MPA program. For consideration for assistantships, new student application materials must be received and complete by mid-February for acceptance by March 1st. More on assistantships and fellowships. >>
