Sonya Anderson Worth is a practicing physical therapist, and is Board Certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Sonya is a Lab Instructor in the entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program and has been teaching at UVM since 2001. As a native New Zealander, she received her Physical Therapy undergraduate training at Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand, and her advanced training in Manual and Manipulative Therapy from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Sonya leads the lab portion of PT 349 Musculoskeletal Patient Management II and teaches in labs for PT 241 and PT 242, the musculoskeletal track of the curriculum. Sonya also co-leads PT 352 International Manual Therapy Collaborative. This is a PT Faculty Lead Program Abroad to New Zealand or Australia for final-year DPT students and licensed PTs. This international project is a collaboration with the Physiotherapy schools at Auckland University of Technology, Bond University Gold Coast Australia, and UVM. Sonya practices physical therapy in the Outpatient Physical Therapy team at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT. She treats patients with a variety of neuromusculoskeletal injuries with a focus on treatment for patients with spinal, shoulder and hip pain.

Sonya is enrolled in the Masters of Health Science program at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Her master's thesis involves the study of Nordic skiers' movement patterns and injury incidence across a 12 month period. To learn more about this study email Sonya directly.
