CLEAR BROOK FARM
Clear Brook Farm is located in Shaftsbury, Vermont. We started Clear Brook Farm in 1994 with one greenhouse and an acre of organic vegetables. Now, thanks to a growing, dedicated local clientele, we are going into our ninth season. We have expanded and now have 3 greenhouses for organic tomato production and 5 greenhouses for bedding plant production, and are farming 15 acres of land organically. We hire help locally, and have been lucky to have many dedicated employees return year after to year to help keep the farm running smoothly.

We offer a wide selection of quality plants for the home gardener. We always try to have a nice selection of less common varieties so that the gardener can experiment and try something new every year. Our staff is happy to try to answer those nagging gardening questions and give advice on various types of organic garden care.

The land we farm was preserved through an Act 250 initiative. We have worked hard to increase the nutrient level of our soils. Now after eight years of spreading compost and planting cover crops, the gravel sandy-loam soil has really started to produce some great crops. We are involved in a number of local initiatives including: supplying the local food shelf with extra produce, helping fund raise for the Regional Affordable Housing Coalition, and giving tours to local school kids.
