Female teammates celebrating victory

Sports and Fitness

Fitness-at-a-glance: Which path should you take?

They all sound fun, but only you know if you belong independently working out on the treadmill, playing on the women's varsity hockey team (or in the stands cheering them on), clearing your head during a game of intramural dodgeball, or river-side competing on the club fly fishing team. Here's the break-down:

Get involved

Several UVM club sports teams compete in regional and national events against other college club teams, and bring home titles and trophies.

Varsity

Varsity Athletics at UVM compete at the Division I level in the NCAA. The highly competitive nine men's teams and 11 women's teams draw raucous and supportive crowds.

Club sports

Sports clubs at UVM might surprise you at the level of competition available with many teams competing nationally against other colleges. Both beginners and seasoned athletes are encouraged to play.

Intramurals

Table tennis, anyone? Intramurals are a fun (and still competitive) UVM sport option that may be organized independently, through residence halls, Greek societies or other campus organizations. The program is overseen by UVM Campus Recreation.

Campus recreation

Enjoy sweeping views of the Green Mountains and athletic fields while you ride the stationary bicycle or do sit-ups. Take a yoga or dance class through a Campus Rec fitness program, or meet friends for ice skating, basketball or squash.
