Energy and Smart Grids

There's a great deal of interest right now in introducing renewables into the electricity grid. Wind power, in particular, has the potential to be a cost-affordable alternative to fossil fuels. Engineering professor Paul Hines studies the problem of integrating fluctuating power sources, such as wind power, into an existing power grid.
