Mission Statement
The mission of the President’s Commission on Social Change is to make
recommendations to the President, acting as a catalyst and advocate in addressing
key challenges facing the health and safety of UVM’s campus community.
Challenges such as bias, gender-based and sexual violence, and the abuse of
alcohol and drugs, impede the University’s goal of academic excellence
in an inclusive, welcoming and safe campus community.
The objectives of the Commission are to:
- Research, monitor and report on the status of the campus community’s health and safety, and of institutional efforts to deal with these challenges.
- Identify major needs and topics of concern.
- Propose policies and programs to address these needs and concerns, and to promote, maintain and publicize strategic focus on these issues.
- Collaborate with campus organizations with complementary goals and objectives.
- Monitor the effectiveness of any proposed initiatives upon implementation.
