Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL)
RAFFL is a non-profit organization increasing farm viability and food access in Southwestern Vermont.
Connect farms to customers: Annual Locally Grown Guide, Worksite Delivery, Farm Tours, supporting area Farmers Markets and local schools and institutions.
• Expand access to locally grown food: On-farm Gleaning projects and our Grow a Row project.
• Support Farm Expansion and New Farm Start-up: New Farmer Initiative and future Land-based Farm Incubator program.
• Develop Food System Infrastructure: The Green Mountain Food Hub will be a regional facility providing storage and processing solutions for farmers and specialty food producers.
New Farmer Networking and Community Building
RAFFL hosts mixers for new farmers to network and build a strong farming community. The blog “What’s Growin’ On”, keeps new farmers updated about learning opportunities across the state and provides a connection between farmers.
Training and Learning Opportunities
RAFFL hosts workshops addressing beginning farmer challenges. One-on-one consultation helps farmers troubleshoot, identify relevant resources and potential land options, and learn about potential market opportunities. In partnership with NOFA-VT, 2010 will begin our first Beginning Farmer Summer Workshop Series.
