The Intervale Center is a nonprofit organization in Burlington whose mission is to strengthen community food systems. For over 20 years, we have pursued this mission by preserving and managing 350 acres of land; supporting more than 100 farms through farm incubation, business planning and marketing programs; increasing access to local and organic food; improving soil fertility; protecting water quality through stream bank restoration; and educating the community about agriculture and healthy food.
The Farms Program: Growing New Farmers
Founded in 1990, the Farms Program is a farm business incubator that leases land, equipment, greenhouses, irrigation and storage facilities to small, organic farms.
Success on Farms: A Farm Viability Enhancement Program
Success on Farms is a two-year business planning program that helps Vermont farm operations improve their viability. Since 2002, Success on Farms has worked one-on-one with over 70 farmers throughout the state, providing specialized support and technical assistance to help farmers expand their markets, increase revenues and meet quality of life goals.
