UVM Enterprise Technology Services offers a secure and robust wireless network. There is no charge to use the wireless network. How you connect to the wireless network depends on whether you are a guest visiting the UVM campus, or a current UVM student, faculty member, or staff member.

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is pleased to announce the availability of its new wireless computer network for on-campus users. This new network is based on technology that will enable the vast majority of the UVM community to connect from on-campus locations without using the Cisco VPN Client.
From most on-campus locations, your wireless-capable device should detect a new network called "UVM". Joining it will require a few minutes' setup, but you only need to do that once per device. After that, your laptop or handheld should automatically sign onto "UVM" when selected.
We in ETS are excited to provide this new service to the campus community, and hope you enjoy the convenience it offers. Please send your feedback about this or any of our services to information.technology@uvm.edu.
If you have not changed your UVM NetID password since 7 May, 2008, your attempts to log into the UVM wireless network will fail. Please visit https://account.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/accounts/change-password to do so prior to joining the wireless network.
Anywhere you currently see "Cat's PAWS", which includes:
* Except Aiken and Rowell, on Central Campus. These are restrictions of the equipment in those locations and will be addressed as circumstances allow.
Step-by-step instructions for Windows, Mac, and the iPhone/iPod Touch are available on this website, using the links on the left ("Windows", "Macintosh OS X", and "Mobile Devices").
You may also call the ETS Helpline at 802-656-2604, or open a Footprint.
While using the "UVM" wireless network will not require the Cisco VPN Client for access to the vast majority of on-campus IT resources, it will still be necessary for accessing "on-campus stuff" from off-campus. Additionally, certain groups of users will still need to use the Cisco VPN Client to access very specialized resources: your college's or department's IT administrator will be able to tell you if your work is likely to require continued use of the VPN.
"Cat's PAWS" will continue to be available for at least several months. For now, we aren't announcing a date when it will go away. If you have trouble using UVM and need to continue using Cat's PAWS, please let us know. Once you've made the switch from "Cat's PAWS" to "UVM", most UVMers should only have to worry about "UVM" and "UVM Guest".
