July 2008: New license authorization codes for SPSS received.

SPSS license authorization codes for versions 15 and 16 under Windows and versions 13 and 16 under Mac OS X are now available. These codes will request a license from the SPSS license server that should be good through the end of June 2009. Note that these are "site license" codes, for those who performed a site license installation of SPSS (most individual users would have done this type of install). If you performed a "network license" install of SPSS, nothing needs to be done since the network license has already been updated. To obtain the new SPSS site license authorization codes, go to UVM's software download library. Browse to the SPSS section and find the link regarding new authorization codes. For more information, contact Alan Howard.

July 2008: New license authorization codes for S-PLUS received.

S-PLUS license authorization codes for version 8 under Windows are now available. These codes will request a license from the S-PLUS license that should be good through the end of July 2009. If you currently have S-PLUS 8 and one or more of the add-on modules, or if you would like a copy of S-PLUS 8, contact Alan Howard to request these new license authorization codes or an installation CD.

June 2008: New license file for MINITAB received.

Users of MINITAB statistical software can update their license file by going to UVM's software download library. Find the MINITAB section and click on the link to obtain an updated license file. For more information, contact Alan Howard.

May 2008: Stata 10 for Windows and Mac OS X received.

The installation media for Stata 10 has been received. ETS has decided not to charge for this software. As of the "Last modified" date at the bottom of this page, there are 33 Windows licenses and 14 Macintosh licenses of the initial 35/15 remaining. Since there are a limited number of licenses, this software is primarily for use by faculty in their research. To obtain a copy of Stata 10, contact Alan Howard.

April 2008: Stata site license to be obtained.

ETS has agreed to obtain a limited 50 user annual license for Stata. Both 32-bit Windows and Mac OS X versions are being licensed, with an initial 35 to 15 split between Windows and Macintosh versions. There will be a $200 one-time fee for faculty/staff to buy into the Stata license. Once a user has paid the initial one-time buy-in fee, all future upgrades to Stata will be provided at no additional cost.

December 2007: SPSS 16 for Windows received.

Version 16 of SPSS for Windows has been received. It is not currently available on the UVM software download web page. If you would like a copy of this version, please contact Alan Howard (click on the link above). With version 16, SPSS has completely changed the format of the output file (now called *.spv). This new output file format cannot be opened in previous versions of SPSS. In addition, output created by SPSS 15 and earlier (*.spo files) cannot be opened in SPSS 16. SPSS has provided an application (the "legacy viewer") that, once installed, allows SPSS 16 users to view previous version's output (*.spo files).

November 2007: SPSS 16 for Mac OS X received.

Version 16 of SPSS for Mac OS X has been received and is available to all UVM affiliates at no cost. It can be downloaded from UVM's software archive web site. As with the Windows version noted above, the format of the output file is incompatible with versions of SPSS before 16. There is no "viewer" application provided by SPSS for Macintosh users that will open previous output (*.spo) files.
