Cat's PAWS
wireless network welcomes guests to campus
When you
use the Cat's PAWS wireless network on campus, the Cisco VPN (virtual private
network) software secures your access by asking for your Network ID and
password, and by encrypting your communication "over the air".
This keeps unauthorized, non-UVM interlopers from abusing the wireless
service, but it creates a barrier for legitimate campus guests who need Internet
access. The UVM IT Security Team has
worked out a process for providing guests with temporary Cat's PAWS access.
1.
A Net-ID is created for each department that wants to provide their
guests with wireless access. For
example:
* athlpaws for Athletics
* librpaws for Libraries
Complete both sections of this application.
