Questions and Answers about Perseus Survey Solutions XP

  • What is perseus?

Perseus Survey Solutions is a tool that can be used to easily develop sophisticated on-line surveys without the need to learn complex HTML or Perl programming. You use software on you computer to create the survey, similar to using a word processor. You then publish your survey to a web page, and use tools UVM provides to collect and analyze the data.

  • Will it run on my computer?

Perseus will run on any computer running Windows 98, NT4 (SP6+), ME, 2000, or XP. If you have a macintosh, you will need to purchase Virtual PC first (contact Doug or Alan to see if this is a reasonable option).

  • Why did UVM purchase a program that doesn't run on Macintoshes?

None of the competitors had products for the Macintosh platform either. There was no choice, unfortunately.

  • Is it free?

CIT purchased a multi-user license for Perseus Survey Solutions XP The purchase included a Web-based data portal to make the data able to be shared and analyzed by others. So yes, it is free for you.

  • How do I learn to use it? Where do I go for help?

Courses are given periodically, or you can make an appointment with Doug Varney (656-1181) or Alan Howard (656-2009).

  • What do the surveys look like?

    Here is an example survey.
