UVM-IT-News is a Web newsletter dedicated to information technology news at UVM. A listserv that distributes the table of contents of each issue is also available.
Q: What is to be covered?
A: Short topical news items, announcements, progress updates, frequently asked questions, etc. We hope to organize the newsletter such that those interested only in a particular area need not read the entire newsletter. We'll see. Feedback should help us make the information more useful.
Q: Do we really need an IT newsletter? Why not just subscribe to IT-Discuss, Net-ctrl, Security, Catskill, Telcom-Info, E-Commerce, E-Comm, E-Teach, Plan-IT, UVMouser, UVMnixer, UVMWindows, etc.?
A: Not everyone has the time or inclination to sign-up for all the UVM IT-related lists. And while these lists will continue to play a very important role in improving communications, they are primarily discussion lists, not newsletters.
Q: So how will UVM-IT-News differ?
A: The intent is to include regular, edited, official (well, mostly) news and information. It will not supercede other IT lists.
Q: Who can subscribe?
A: Anyone with a UVM.edu email address. Folks without a UVM email address will be able to read it on the Web if they wish.
Q: Will anyone be able to post?
A: No. UVM-IT-News is not a discussion list; it's a newsletter. However, readers are encouraged to submit questions, comments and corrections to the list, some of which we expect to appear in addenda, errata or subsequent newsletters.
Q: Can I submit articles?
A: Yes, we are happy to work with you to publish your article. Contact the editor for details.
Q: How often will the newsletter be published?
A: We are targeting seasonal publication during the academic year plus summer and back-to-school issues.
If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please send them to Information.Technology@uvm.edu
