Release Date: 03-27-2007
Author: Carol Caldwell-Edmonds,
The recent release of Microsoft Office 2007 creates both opportunity and anxiety for the thousands of people who use these tools at UVM. With a significant change to the Microsoft Office interface for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, we need to be intentional about making the transition to the newest version of MS Office productive, with as little disruption to your schedule as possible.
The Office 2007 Task Force recommends that students, faculty, and staff
continue using the
Office 2003 Suite while the Task Force is testing MS Office 2007.
This task force consists of a group of volunteers, which has been
formed to test this software over the next few months. We will
report on some of the treasures, investigate the complications of
conversion from earlier versions, and suggest ways we all can learn to
use these tools productively. The volunteers include both IT support
people and clients who use Office programs on a daily
basis. Testing is currently underway, but if you are
interested in participating directly, please contact us. The Task
Force has set June 25, 2007 as the target date for reporting findings
and recommendations.
