As a caring community, we understand that our health and safety depend on how well we take care of each other. As a member of this community, I promise to responsibly protect my health and the health of others. I make these efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other risks to our community’s health.

GREEN AND GOLD PRINCIPLES (SUMMER 2021)

The virus that causes COVID-19 is highly contagious. It is our collective and individual responsibility to continue to do all we can to reduce the spread of COVID-19, both on and off campus. The principles of the Green and Gold Promise listed below outline the obligation of members of our community to abide by CDC, state, and local health and safety guidance. Those who are on campus this summer must also follow specific UVM guidance.

WE REMIND CATAMOUNTS TO ABIDE BY THESE PRINCIPLES TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19, REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED THIS SUMMER:

  • Practice physical distancing (at least 6 feet of distance) from other people who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
  • Wear an appropriate face mask and other required personal protective equipment (PPE) specific to the activity or location you are in.
  • Follow applicable state and local guidelines about numbers of people allowed to gather in both public and private spaces.
  • Monitor for the symptoms of COVID-19 and report to a medical professional if you experience any of the following symptoms: fever of 100.4 F (38 C) or higher, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea and know these symptoms are not related to a pre-existing condition.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell, are experiencing any symptoms, or have been exposed to someone who is sick or tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Follow the instructions of medical professionals, which may include being tested for COVID-19 and self-quarantining while test results are pending.
  • Participate fully and honestly in contact tracing to determine who may have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Follow the university’s travel guidelines for UVM sponsored travel.  For personal travel, follow all applicable state and local guidelines. Details of Vermont requirements are outlined by the Vermont Department of Health at https://www.healthvermont.gov/response/coronavirus-covid-19/traveling-vermont.
  • Educate yourself about vaccination options and consider getting vaccinated if you are able to do so.

STUDENTS WORKING OR ENGAGED IN RESEARCH ON-CAMPUS, ENROLLED IN ON-CAMPUS COURSES, OR STAYING IN UNIVERSITY HOUSING THIS SUMMER ARE ADDITIONALLY REQUIRED TO:

  • Participate in every seven-day testing to preserve the health and wellbeing of the community. As of June 1, students who have provided Student Health Services proof that they are fully vaccinated will be exempt from weekly testing.  You are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after you receive your second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or 14 days after you receive a single dose vaccine.
  • If you are not vaccinated and believe you should be exempt from the testing requirement, you must submit a full or temporary testing exemption form by established deadlines.
  • Self-isolate in accordance with Vermont Department of Health Guidelines and University instructions if you test positive for COVID-19.
  • Promptly report any known or potential exposures to COVID-19 impacting yourself or others to the Center for Health and Wellbeing by calling 802-656-3350. Follow the instructions of University personnel.
  • Be aware of and observe capacity limits and gathering restrictions for both indoor and outdoor spaces on campus, which may be more restrictive than State guidance.
  • Adhere to all university directions, communications and updates.
  • Be aware of and follow more restrictive requirements established for specific facilities and activities.
