BIO

Cassie Gillespie is a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience serving children, youth, families, and helping professionals. She began her social work career as a child welfare worker for the State of Vermont's Department of Children and Families (DCF) Family Services Division, gaining experience in a variety of settings including work in schools, housing, crisis response, and residential sites.

In 2016, Cassie joined UVM's Child Welfare Training Partnership and began providing training, coaching and consultation for Vermont’s child welfare workforce. She began serving as workforce training team lead for CWTP in 2019.

Before accepting a position as a full-time lecturer, Cassie had been teaching classes as a part time faculty member in the Department of Social Work Department. She also produces and hosts CWTP’s podcast: The Social Work Lens (formerly known as Welcome to the Field) designed for child welfare professionals and caregivers.

Cassie is the co-author of "One Firm’s Journey to Address Trauma Exposure and Chronic Stress in the Workplace" published in the May 2023 Wellness Issue of Law Practice Today.  She has also led presentations and training for the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative, the National Immigrant Justice Center, the Vermont Bar Association, Vermont Law School, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the National Immigrant Justice Center, and the Vermont Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
