Welcome from the Dean

Antonio Cepeda-BenitoI’m happy to report the obvious—another year flew by! Academic Year 2012-2013 brought us a myriad of accomplishments and proud memories. Of the 2,547 UVM bachelor level graduates, 1,184 (or 47% of the total) were CAS students. The most subscribed majors were English (170), Psychology (159), and Political Science (145), with History (95), Biology and Environmental Studies tied (81), and Art and Art History (68) next behind. Spotlight on the Political Science Department

F. Gregory GauseAs chair of the department, I talk with admitted students and their parents eight times during the spring semester to sell them on the benefits of studying political science at the University of Vermont.  It is the easiest bit of public speaking I do all year.  The department’s faculty are true teacher-scholars, devoted to our job of undergraduate teaching while also producing first-rate scholarship about politics in the form of books, articles, reports and other contributions to our public debate. Learn more from Department Chair F. Dedication Ceremony Held for Newly Named Lattie F. Coor House

A dedication ceremony for the Lattie F. Coor House, newly named in honor of one of the University of Vermont’s longest serving and most successful presidents, was held May 16 on the front lawn of the building at 438 College Street, the administrative home of UVM’s College of Arts and Sciences.
