A Note from Staff Council President Karmen Swim Happy Holidays! Can you believe that 2017 is almost over!?! It has certainly been a year – a rollercoaster ride for me - and I am very much looking forward to the holidays to self-reflect, rejuvenate and be ready to take on what 2018 will bring my way! I hope you each find some time to relax, do things that make you happy and come back in 2018 with renewed energy and peace. We continue to do amazing work on Staff Council and the representatives of your units and colleges are putting in the hard work and effort to represent the Staff at the University. It certainly is an exciting time to be part of Staff Council. If you want to get involved, I ask you to step forward. You can do so by volunteering for Staff Council’s committees, initiatives, and events, becoming a Staff Council Representative for your unit or college, or simply by reaching out with questions, concerns or comments that will help foster positive change and shape upcoming initiatives for Staff Council. Upcoming Staff Council Meeting The next Staff Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 5th, 12:05-1:30 in Waterman's Memorial Lounge. Click here for a copy of the agenda. Information from Staff Council: It's Time for the 2017 Holiday Bazaar and Food Drive! Staff Council invites you to join us from 9:00am-3:00pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Grand Maple Ballroom for our annual Holiday Bazaar and Food Drive! This event is Staff Council's biggest one of the year - all our crafters and artisans are UVM affiliates, and the money we raise helps support events and discounts for staff all year long. You can also still sign up to volunteer or donate to the bake sale. In addition, we hope to again beat our record for food donations to the Chittenden Food Shelf! Bring a non-perishable food item and get a free raffle ticket. We've got tons of great prizes this year. Please email us you have further questions at Staff.Council@uvm.edu. Staff Council's Double-Discounted Athletic Tickets Still On Sale Through December 15th We're still taking orders for double-discounted hockey and basketball tickets over winter break! The Staff Council's Social Committee subsidizes these ticket purchases for UVM staff members and this year we've added an additional game. You can attend UVM Men's Ice Hockey versus UMass on January 13th and UVM Men's Basketball vs. UMBC on January 6th for just $6 per ticket. You must be UVM staff to order, but you can order as many as you'd like. Print out the order form here. Orders are due in the Staff Council Office by December 15th, but get your orders in soon - these tickets are while supplies last.
