POSTER ACTIVITY  (50 minutes)

Use the Gene and Nucleotide data bases to search for information about the gene which results in the aberrant phenotype of the condition, syndrome or genetic disease you have chosen. There is no minimum or maximum amount of information to find - in the real world, the only criterion of quality is to do as much as necessary to do the job right.

Information of interest  includes the following:

  • The formal name and synonyms of the gene
  • The cytogenetic locus of the gene.
  • A description of the function of the gene.
  • A description of why aberrant function results in an aberrant phenotype.
  • Diagram of the sequence and structure of the gene, showing all relevant features.
  • Description of the sequence and structure of the gene, showing all relevant features.
Examine and compile all relevant hits. Print  all information which you think may be useful for your Poster, and save it for later use.
