TUTORIAL (5-10 minutes) The "Gene Database" provides a quick overview of any gene, with a summary of information on the gene, links to the base sequence of the gene, amino acid sequence of the gene product, references, OMIM and many other NCBI databases. To begin this tutorial, go to the NCBI home page. Type "delta globin" into the search box. On the pull-down menu, select the "Gene" database (not the "Genome" database!). Click on the "Go"" button. When the results of the search are displayed, there should be a link to "HBD", the gene for human delta-globin. Click on this link. A screen on human delta globin should appear which looks like this.
