The University Store buys textbooks all year round but, the best time to sell your books is during exams. Please remember that BUY BACK is NOT the same as receiving a REFUND on textbooks. A REFUND is given before the Add/Drop date at the beginning of each semester. This is for the FULL amount as long as you are in compliance with the Textbook Refund Policy. Buy back takes place at the end of each semester, when you are finished using the book. No receipt is required and only partial money is returned.
The Best Offer - The University Store will pay 50% of the current retail price providing:
the book is required for the following semester (we must have an order from the faculty)
the book is needed to fill quotas (don't wait until the last minute)
the book is in reusable condition
The Next Best Offer - Books with a national demand are valued at up to 1/3 of the current retail price. These books are shipped to the wholesaler who recycles them to other colleges and universities.
REMEMBER:
Recycling your books is good for the environment.
Recycling your books lowers the price for textbooks.
Retail book prices are determined by the publishers.
Wholesale prices are based on national supply and demand.
Custom published books are not eligible for buy back.
There are very few things that we can purchase, use for a few months, and then return for any money back.
Please encourage your instructors to contact the University Store before buyback about using the same titles for the next semester. This is the only way to have your books valued at 50%. The University Store does not select the titles used in the courses. The titles are requested by the faculty. The University Store also does not determine when a new edition is published. The publishers decide when to produce a new edition based on changes in technology or to update information.
Please remember that it is your responsibilty to use the textbooks assigned by your instructors. If the instructor didn't require any reading assignments in the book you should discuss that with the instructor. The value of a textbook is in your hands.
