Sampling Distribution of F

This applet allows you to do several things. You can vary the degrees of freedom for the numerator (df1) and the denominator (df2)in an analysis of variance, and see what effect that has on the F distribution--in particular the critical value of F. Alternatively, you can specify a given F value for the degrees of freedom you have selected, and the applet will report the associated probability. (Or you can specify the probability and find the critical value of F.)

The applet is shown below

Use the scrollbars to change the degrees of freedom, or enter a value of p or F.
Notice that the X-axis changes, which can be misleading--always look at the probability itself.
