On-Line: Sexual Desire and Sexual Fantasies

Background: Previous studies have suggested that women with a history of CSA are more likely to have sexual dysfunctions than women without a history of CSA. Studies have also shown that the sexual fantasies of women with a history of CSA differ from the sexual fantasies of women without a history of CSA. Since sexual fantasies can be used to help women regain sexual function, a better understanding of sexual fantasies can help us find a way to improve the sexual function of women with a history of CSA.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to gather detailed information about the sexual fantasies of women from a variety of backgrounds. We hope to better understand fantasies that help and those fantasies that have a negative effect on women’s sexuality.

Method: Information from 500 women across North America will be collected. More information about this study as well as instructions on how to participate in this study via an online secure testing site may be found clicking here.

At SHRC:  Mood and Sexual Arousal

Background: Some survivors of childhood sexual abuse have severe problems developing close intimate relationships while other women with similar histories are able to have satisfying relationships. The focus of this study is to better understand the aspect of intimate relationships and aspects of sexual function that affect sexual abuse survivors with and without sexual and relational problems. The information coming from this study will help us develop interventions to help those women who experience problems in their sexual or romantic relationships.

Objectives: We are conducting this research 1)  to understand the way in which mood affects sexuality in women with a history of sexual abuse, and 2) to understand the mechanisms involved in the relational problems of women with a history of sexual abuse.

Method: Working with women between the ages of 18 and 25 with and without a history of unwanted sexual experiences. If you qualify you will be asked to come to the Sexual Health Research Clinic for two consecutive days for 2 hrs each day. You will receive $80 for participating.
