Beyond Conferences: Group Relations Applications

Announcing

 AKRI Training & Certification Program

The A. K. Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems is pleased to announce a Training and Certification Program for individuals who wish to qualify to do group relations conference consultation. The new program is chaired by Charla Hayden, M.A., and will begin this Fall, 2002.

The training process is competency-based, and has three phases. It is designed to provide individual latitude in the selection of learning methods to achieve the core competencies. The approach assumes that people will enter the training at varying degrees of capability and that their  training will proceed at differing rates of speed, based on their readiness and the intensity of the efforts they put into achieving the competencies.

Although it is the primary goal of this training program to prepare those who want to do group relations conference consultation work to do it well, engaging in the careful development of these kinds of skills, receiving criteria-based feedback from experienced practitioners of this work, and working in conferences as a staff member in training is excellent preparation for a variety of other work roles. Those considering enrolling in the training may want to consider how such training might benefit them in their broader work lives.

 How to Apply

Inquiries about the training program should be addressed to Anne-Marie Kirkpatrick, Administrator, AKRI National Office.
