The ESDA Network

Statement of purpose

The ESDA Network is a group of individuals and organizations committed to laying the foundations for a Sustainable and Desirable America. We believe that the cornerstone of this foundation must be a broad shared vision of what such an America will look like (as described in our vision statement). The charter members met together for the first time at the Envisioning a Sustainable and Desirable America conference on January 8-10, 2001, at the Lewis Environmental Center at Oberlin College. Using a three-day future search process, we developed a vision of the America in which we would want our descendants to live in the year 2100 and founded the ESDA Network. The goal of the Network now is to further develop and flesh out this vision of the future, disseminate this vision as widely as possible, and initiate a unified effort to commence working towards this vision.
