![]() Upcoming Events Past Events Upcoming Events March 2005 ![]() Translating Identity Conference Date:March 5, 2005 Time:8am-6pm Place:Billings Details:We enjoyed the conference so much last year that we decided to make it a tradition. Planning has already begun for this year conference and we promise that this year will be better than the rest. If you are interested in attending please go to our Translating Identity Conference website and register, space is filling up fast. Translating Identity is a free and public conference that is focused on gender and gender identities. Open to the public, this event hopes to reach out the University of Vermont and Burlington communities and educate us all further about transgender issues. With multiple panels to choose from at any time, some panels will be directed towards trans people and others will be for those who are fairly unfamiliar with the transgender movement and the topic of gender identity. This conference allows us to translate gender identity to both the queer community and its allies. February 2005 ![]() Twister and Lube Date: February 7, 2005 Time: 8pm Place: Free To Be Office Details: Slippery fun was had by all! Turn out was spectacular. We covered the boards with the best lube around and played game after game of Twister. The tangled fun was ended by awarding the winner two Twister coffee mugs. November 2004 ![]() National Trans Day of Remembrance Date:November 19, 2004 Time:All Day Place: Bailey Howe Library Details:The sign that hung outside the Baily-Howe Library was a sombering reminder of how much this world still needs to change. Students passed out fliers giving facts, statistics, and events taking place to passerbys. Many stopped and asked question and members gladly educated them to the best of their knowledge. The day continued with members walking with candles and community members around downtown Burlington. The night ended with a reading of the names followed by an emotional speak out that left few dry eyes. Transgender DOR Art Show Date: November 17, 2004 Time: 6pm-9pm Place: Fire House Gallery Details: With thanks to the amazing artists, the first ever Transgernder Day of Remberance Art Show was held at the local art gallery downtown. The night consisted of a art opening showing works done by the local community. Two movies were shown to finish off the night. We hope to continue this tradition on for many years to come. October 2004 ![]() Apple Pie Fundraiser Date: October 22, 2004 Time: 10am-2pm Place: Bailey Howe Library Details: As a fundraiser the group decided to sell the apple pies that were baked during the retreat at a bake sale. We sold all of the pie either by slice or by the whole pie. Fall Retreat Date: October 16-17, 2004 Time: 10am on Saturday to 10am on Sunday Place: Allen House Details: We truly bonded as a group for the two days we spent together. We started the day picking apples at a local apple orchard. We then traveled to Pizza Putt where we ate lunch and played miniature golf. We came back to Allen house to make dinner and bake apple pies as a group. The night was finished by playing the Rainbow Gayme and watching a movie all together. The lucky fell asleep to Rhian's and Elissa's wonderful portraits of everyone in the room. We woke up to the wonderful people of Hillel serving breakfeast for us and the community. Home Coming Date: October 2, 2004 Time: 12pm Place: Baily-Howe Library to Centennial Field Details: Come out to see our "Roving Rainbow" share candy and condoms all around. September 2004 ![]() Condoms and Cupcakes Date:September 20, 2004 Time:8pm Place:North Lounge Billings Details:Our annual Condoms and Cupcakes was the best kick off event in a long time. By the end of the night over 330 UVM students enjoyed the safe sex demos, as well as handfuls of condoms and other prophylactics. The night went so well, that our famous rainbow cupcakes lasted only minutes. LGBTQA Services Picnic Date:September 12, 2004 Time:1pm Place:Allen House Details:Come meet the staff at LGBTQA Services while also getting the chance to meet and hang out with the crew of Free To Be. Not only will there be food provided, but there will be games, music, and lots of coloring posters. Everyone is welcome to attend. August 2004 ![]() First Semester Meeting Date:August 30, 2004 Time:8pm Place:Free To Be Office Details:This meeting will kick off another wonderful year of planning. With the few meetings that were able to take place this summer, the fall semester is starting to take shape. Come help out with planning or just to see what a business meeting is like. All is welcome, especially allies. Class of 2008 Class Picnic Date:August 28, 2004 Time:12-2pm Place:CWP Green Details:Free To Be will have a table for first year students to grab information on our club as well as plenty of condoms and dental dams to pass out.
