| demonstrative adjectives and pronouns (i dimostrativi)
As for the possessives, the adjectives and the pronouns for the demonstratives have the same form; in all cases, they agree with the noun they modify (adjectives) or refer to (pronouns):
questo, questa, questi, queste=this, these
quello, quella, quelli, quelle=that, those
But when quello/quella are used as adjectives, they precede the noun and are modified according to the same pattern as the definite article:
quello zaino
quello studente
quell'amico
quel professore
