Section Description
This course is an introduction to the history of film up to 1960. The course covers various aspects of the development of film, including Hollywood genres, Soviet montage, and Italian neorealism. We will read about and formulate the aesthetic, technological, social, and economic considerations surrounding these areas of cinema. The primary objective of the course is to provide an introductory understanding of the structure of cinema, while simultaneously sharpening skills in film analysis.
Section Expectation
Each week will be divided into two sections. There will be two lectures every week posted on Brightspace. Required readings and links to films are also posted on Brightspace. Complete all assignment by the end of each week.
