Spanish: Intermediate Spanish II

Continuation of Intermediate Spanish I. Grammar review, moving toward increased proficiency in composition, listening comprehension, pronunciation, speaking, reading, and writing. Emphasis on cultural context. Students may take 1 Spanish course numbered between 2200 and 2209 for credit. Credit not awarded for SPAN 2200 following receipt of credit for any SPAN course numbered SPAN 3100 or above. Prerequisite: SPAN 2100 or equivalent.

SPAN 2200 is a 3-credit, second-semester intermediate Spanish course that seeks to expand students' ability to communicate effectively in Spanish. It focuses on intermediate grammar and vocabulary acquisition and social and cultural topics that help develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Spanish. This is an online asynchronous course, meaning that there are no required meeting days/times. All work, both oral and written, will be completed via Brightspace and the VHL Supersite. All students should have taken at least SPAN 2100 at UVM or an equivalent course elsewhere or should have taken the language placement test* to enroll in this course. You can find information about the placement test at: go.uvm.edu/flp. SPAN 2200 also fulfills the GC2 Developing Global Citizens requirement.

in SPAN 2200, a 3-credit course, students should expect to work about 6 hours a week outside of the classroom doing assignments, homework and studying.

Grades are based on homework from the VHL Supersite, quizzes, speaking and writing activities, and a final exam.
