Recreational boating, sewage production, and potential implications for phosphorus loading in Lake Champlain

In this scientific article in the Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism, researchers conducted surveys of marinas and boaters to estimate sewage production by marina-using boaters. These data allowed estimation of potential phosphorus contributions to Lake Champlain by improperly disposed sewage. Such contributions were negligible compared to other known Lake Champlain phosphorus sources.
