Monthly Impact Reports

Through our ongoing efforts within the Institute for Rural Partnerships and the Office of Engagement, we anticipate a high impact on the reinvigoration of rural communities, regionally and nationally. Our monthly impact reports will share updates on the successes and key outcomes of initiatives, programs, and companies that the Institute supports and/or funds.

July 2023 Impact Report

In July, the University of Vermont Office of Engagement and Institute for Rural Partnerships is excited to share highlights of our impact in key outcome areas including workforce, community, and economic development, OoE data services, corporate partnerships, and student internships and engagement on-campus.

  • Green Mountain Job and Retention Program – We received 186 applications after engaging with eight colleges. As a result, 32 scholarships have been approved.
  • EDA Tech Hub – The Office of Engagement has coordinated letters of collaboration for this proposal from seven government agencies, 10 industry associations and companies, and five education and micro-technology partners.
  • OOE Data Services – Our data services have informed State of Vermont’s recent credit rating pitch to S&P, the VT Futures Project strategy and planning, and the EDA Tech Hup proposal application.
  • VT Flood Response – The OoE and IFRP-VT have implemented extensive outreach to leaders in affected flood areas, in addition to participating and supporting the Flood Relief Task Force and OVPR Rapid Response grant-making and partnerships for our researchers.
  • Summer 2023 Student Internship Pilot Program – We have successfully completed a summer student internship pilot program, which included 10 student internships in Central Vermont, all with employers who are interested in partnering in further UVM engagement programs.
  • OoE-led Working Groups – Our Office of Engagement continues to grow student engagement on campus through our Internship Coordinators Network, UVM Outreach Council and corporate partnerships.
