Macroinvertebrates inhabiting streams are sensitive to pollutants and runoff, and thus, serve as bioindicators of water quality. They typically require high levels of dissolved oxygen and low turbidity in the water. Here, we used the species richness of macroinvertebrates found in Ranch Brook in Underhill, Vermont. The current year is scored as the difference between 0 and the tagert (maximum value +10% of the range).
