Lane Series: Christina & Michelle Naughton
Lucky us! As the rare presenter with two Steinway concert grand pianos, we are always looking for great duo pianists because the form is just so thrilling. It¿s not that four hands are better than two, but there is something about the power and energy and coordination of the duo piano format that really creates such excitement on stage. The Naughtons are twin sisters who have performed at the Kennedy Center, the Mann Center with the Philadelphia Orchestra, at Munich¿s Herkulesaal with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and recently, to spectacular reviews, with the Boston Symphony (both at Tanglewood and at Symphony Hall). They have captivated audiences throughout the world with the unity created by their mystical communication. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, in Christina¿s own words, ¿There are times I forget we are two people playing together.¿ They will perform on two pianos and one piano/four hands in a program which will include works by Mozart, Nancarrow, Saint-Saëns, Chopin, and Debussy.
